Lamsa's translation from the Aramaic of the Peshitta is not a new Bible but a new translation of distinction. He has eliminated errors that crept in through intermediary translations of the testaments into Latin and Greek.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. Your prayers are greatly appreciated! Daniels Question: What is the Lamsa Bible? Is it trustworthy like the King James Bible? If not, how is it different? Answer: I used the Lamsa Bible myself, when I was into the occult, over two decades ago. But I still remember the strange things it says to this day. He was a very sly man.

He used as his base text the King James Bible, and changed passages to fit what he wanted them to say, then claimed he was only "translating the Aramaic. For example, in Matthew God's words say: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? Even worse, he changed Psalm into heresy:. A person reading Jesus' words on the cross and Psalm 22 would have no idea that God made that psalm into a precise prophecy of the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We know that the Lord Jesus is the " only-begotten " of God the Father. But in Lamsa's perversion it reads, "the first-born " John , He was, and is, God Himself. Micah tells us that the Lord Jesus has always lived; but instead of "whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting ," Lamsa lies, "whose goings forth have been predicted from of old, from everlasting. Jesus wasn't predicted from eternity; He has existed from eternity! He changed other passages, too, such as one in Daniel , which many believe prophesies the antichrist.

The KJV clearly says: "But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. Isaiah tells us about the spirit behind the kings of the world, namely Lucifer : "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!

The Lamsa Bible is not Christian at all. It is Lamsa's own blend of occultic ideas made to look a lot like the King James Bible. Amazingly he published books with both Holman Publishers and the occultic Unity "School of Christianity. I have not heard anything more about it for years. It is better to stay with God's preserved words in English. All these supposed "more ancient" and "better" Bible texts have done is bring confusion to the Christian world. And we all know who is the author of confusion.

Many translations use "church of God" and suggest God's blood purchased our salvation, whereas the Lamsa translation says [emphasis mine]:. Acts Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.

Lamsa Bible

Lamsa in Lamsa, following the tradition of his church , claimed that the Aramaic New Testament was written before the Greek version, a view known as Aramaic primacy. This contrasts with the academic consensus that the language of the New Testament was Greek. Lamsa thus claimed his translation was superior to versions based on later Greek manuscripts. While Lamsa's claims are rejected by the academic community his translation remains the best known of Aramaic to English translations of the New Testament. Some places in Lamsa's translation differ from the Greek texts used as the basis of other English-language Bibles.

George Lamsa

One of the doctrine of the Iglesia Ni Cristo is that Jesus is a man, not an ordinary man though because he was made Lord, Savior and God commanded us to worship Him. Let us read Acts from 1 George Lamsa :. I cannot find an Ethridge translation in the web but interestingly I think the church is referring to 2 John W. Ethridge English Pershitta translation which apparently the same source George M.
