Hello, As a first time traveler to Germany, I am confused and worried about our first night stay which will be in Erding. It seems the bus to the town from the airport has made some changes and I can't figure out the schedule. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the buses go to Erding several times per day I suspect the latter is true but I'm worried about cabfare. If anyone has any ideas what cabfare might be, that would be helpful as well. Thank you!

Thank you! Hi, I don't know about the buses, but cab fare for us from Erding to Munich airport was 20Euro plus a tip. Erding is a nice old town by the way. We enjoyed our last evening and night before an early am. Not that Erding isn't nice, but Salzburg should take less than 3 hours to raech from the airport.
If you are arriving at Munich airport MUC , why are you worrying about a bus from town? There is a bus from the airport directly to Erding Bahnhof. It leaves every 40 minutes and takes 33 minutes. You can find schedules on the MVV Munich metro website, www. Change it to English with the pulldown on the upper right unless you want a challenge.
Start with "Muenchen Flughafen Terminal" and "Erding". Erding is the end of the S2 line. That will cover the bus to Erding as well as the round trip train into Munich. For reference, here is the commuter train map of Munich. Erding is at the top, far right.
I have stayed at the BW Park Hotel in Erding a couple of times and found it a very pleasant place to stay. The center of Erding a 5 to 10 minute walk and will be a very nice introduction to small town southern Germany. The ride takes about 35 to 40 minutes. I have taken taxis from the Park Hotel to the Munich airport and I seem to recall it cost euro , plus the tip. This is all very helpful. Twenty euros would not be too, too steep should we have a problem. I'm glad to hear Erding is nice To answer some of your questions My husband wanted to stay in a charming and quaint town at least one night and I thought that Erding looked that way, and, was just a short jaunt from the airport so after an overnight flight we're from Boston , we could just drop our bags, freshen up and head out for the day.
We will be staying in Munich proper on the other side of our trip before heading home. I do thank you also for the information on getting into Munich from Erding. We may end up going into town on that first day,or, just hanging out in Erding but it is helpful either way. I did in fact find the bus information on the website but I also saw that there are some current detours, construction related I believe and I was concerned about how many times a day the bus might run.
I guess my nerves about logistics are getting to me! Thank you though. Were the construction delays you saw related to the bus from the airport to Erding?
The website lists all such delays for all of Munich. To see specific delays, we need your date and time. I looked at a day in mid-Sept and saw delays for the U-bahn, not the bus. By the way, I looked at the English side I usually use the German language side because it tends to have more information , and I see you need a slightly different input. Use "Muenchen Flughafen Terminal 2" as the start.
The site will add for the bus stop. Note also, from the home page, where it has the little box with from, to, date, and time, if you click on "Submit", without filling anything in, it will take you to an expanded page where you can put in an address in Erding and it will show you the closest bus stop and how far to walk. Thank you Sam! I intend to try one as I've read great reviews!
We arrive at am on Friday, October 12th. I have no idea how long it will take to be processed through the airport so I don't really know what time we will be ready to catch the bus. Yes, I believe that construction was on the route that is I believe this is the bus we should take.. I will try to enter my information as you suggested. I really appreciate all your help with this! However, they do recognize the address, "Am Bahnhof 3, Erding".
It's right across the street from the Erding Bahnhof, about a 3 min, less than 50 yd, walk. I've never timed myself going through immigration and customs in Munich, but I doubt that it takes an hour. I use a carryon, so you might take a little longer if you have to wait for checked luggage. If you do arrive at , you should be able to catch the bus. In this case you would get the bus. If you aren't bringing Euro with you, there is an ATM in the baggage retrieval room.
You'll exit the baggage room through a door marked "nothing to At the far end is a glass wall leading out into an awning covered patio to the S-Bahn station. Start down the hallway, but make the first right and go to the exit on the north side of the building.
Across the parking lot is the bus stop. So far, I don't see any notice of construction affecting bus in October. The changes to the schedule are until Sept 7 so they shouldn't affect you. Other than the Terminal 1 bus stop and bus stops around Niederding not being served, the bus will still run. It will leave the airport, Terminal 2 stop, 3 minutes earlier than originally scheduled.
I shouldn't have mattered to you. You're going to go to the bus stop as soon as you can and take the next bus that leaves for Erding. Very nice place. Actually, we thought it was an extemely nice hotel. It's across the street and just a block or two from the train station and it's just a few minutes walk into the old town of Erding. Great location. Thank you Jack and Paul Lee, wow, outstanding! Thank you so much for all the work you did here I really appreciate it. You as well have made me feel more confident.
Much appreciated! I will print out your instructions and bring with me. If you want to tag along, we could certainly use your skills and your understanding of German as well! Thanks much! Charlotte, I found the layout of the main building at Terminal 2. There are walls and halls not shown in that area.
I remember only one carrousel in the room and one ATM on the wall. I always walk out of that area about where the security check point symbol is - the doors out to the patio and the Airport Center are straight ahead. If you turn right and go to the north door, it opens to a parking lot with the bus stop about where the map says "busses".
Twice in the last three years I have come from Freising on the bus and it stopped at the same place you'll catch the bus to Erding.
Please sign in to post. While you're there, make sure to have an Erdinger Weissbier.
Is there an airport shuttle? if not whats best...
Can anyone tell me if we should book a taxi in advance to take us to the car rental pick-up in Erding , or if there are taxis readily available at the airport? Any idea of the cost for this trip, and how long it takes? There are always taxis readily available at the airport. Booking in advance makes this only complicated such a taxi must not use the taxi booths in front of the terminals and more expensive as you to pay for the waiting time as well. From: MUC. Can you pay the taxi driver with a credit card, or should we get cash out at an ATM in the airport?
